Shrey Jain
I work on AI systems. Currently at Meta.
I'm a data scientist and AI engineer based in San Francisco. Most of my work lives at the intersection of machine learning, operations research, and getting things to production — not just to a notebook.
I've shipped models and systems at Meta, CXApp, TruckX, Dream11, and OYO. The problems change. The goal is always the same: make something that actually works at scale.
Outside of work, I build iOS apps and tools for myself — mostly things I couldn't find and decided to make.

Recent work
A few things I believe about this work:
- "Models that don't ship are hobbies."
- "The most important question isn't which algorithm — it's whether anyone will look at the output."
- "Latency is a feature. So is reliability. They're usually the last things people think about and the first things users notice."
- "Good ML work is 20% modeling and 80% understanding what the problem actually is. Most people get this backwards."
- "If you can't explain why the model is wrong, you don't understand the model."
- "The best data pipeline is the one that's boring to operate."
- "Optimization problems are everywhere. Most people just call them by other names."
- "A/B tests tell you what happened. They rarely tell you why. That's where the interesting work starts."
- "Junior engineers write code. Senior engineers decide what not to write."
- "I'd rather be 80% right and in production than 99% right in a notebook."
